The function

Who are we?

The Primary Education Partnership Amsterdam Diemen is a network of 40 school boards and approximately 250 primary schools in Amsterdam and Diemen. Together with our partners, we are committed to appropriate education for more than 65,000 pupils. Our support plan provides direction for what we do and where we want to go.

Our partnership operates according to the school model. This means that schools receive resources to provide strong in-school support for pupils. If additional support is required, schools can arrange this themselves. If a teacher and internal coordinator cannot resolve the issue despite this extra support, they can call upon the partnership.

The partnership then links up with the support team at school and collaborates on finding suitable solutions. Such a team consists of the teacher, internal coordinator, parents (and the child), and an educational advisor and social expert from the partnership. Depending on the situation, other experts may also join, such as someone from special needs (primary) education or a parent and child advisor. Together, we look at what a student needs to develop as well as possible.

What will you do?

Your main task is to arrive at an appropriate educational offer for a pupil. You do this in close collaboration with your colleague, the education advisor. Each from your own expertise and responsibility. You work in an action- and solution-oriented manner, and always from the pupil's perspective.

  • You conduct discussions in a support team to best identify a pupil's educational and support needs. Do this together with your colleague education advisor. The conversations are with various stakeholders, including parents and the school.
  • You maintain contact with parents and care services and gather additional information about a student. For example, you can do this by contacting a youth care agency or relevant people from the so-called ‘third sector’ (sports club, after-school care). If necessary, you conduct social research.
  • You are assessing a child's support needs in a broad sense: education, social context, and social-emotional development. This is how you weigh up how best to meet those needs within the available possibilities.
  • You discuss this in conversations with the support team, parents, and school (and any other stakeholders). The outcome of the discussions may be the application for a declaration of admissibility (TLV) for specialised education.

What do you bring?

  • You are a strong connector and good at keeping the dialogue open and, where necessary, creating and monitoring the conditions for a respectful conversation
  • You have demonstrable knowledge of and experience with action-focused working (HGW), solution-focused working and action-focused arranging (HGA) at the level of the partnership, school, individual pupils, parents and teachers
  • You have experience in diagnostics and case analysis, with information from parents, school and care providers being central.
  • You can have conversations under stress
  • You are a team player and invest in yourself and the team through knowledge sharing, training and peer review
  • You have the skills appropriate to the dynamic practice of primary education and the guts to work with stakeholders to see what is possible and necessary
  • You have an independent and flexible working attitude
  • You have knowledge of different cultures and can handle diversity well.
  • You take a positive view of inclusive education and promote it
  • You have a completed higher professional education qualification that is relevant to the role and several years of experience in education and/or youth care.

Registration with the SKJ is an advantage.

What do we offer?

We offer a one-year employment contract for 24 hours per week with a view to permanent employment. Salary (scale 10) and other employment conditions are based on the Collective Labour Agreement for Primary Education. You will join a collegial and close-knit team, where there is a lot of attention for each other. In addition, we regularly organise fun team activities in which you are also very welcome to participate. It is possible to participate in guided intervision and there is a budget for training. There are also (electric) shared bicycles within the company.
