We are here for parents

Schools and parents need each other to make appropriate education work. As a parent, you know what your child needs. We see you therefore as an important partner in the search for what your child needs. Together, we find the right support.

"It is very nice to have someone who is objective and really thoughtful with us."

My child needs support:

Is your child struggling to keep up at school? Is he unhappy? Or is the teacher struggling to guide your child? If so, the school will work with you as a parent to see what steps can be taken.

Read how here or use the buttons to go directly to a section.

If help for your child is not enough, school organises a Support Team (OT). Together, you look at what your child needs to learn better.

Children with dyslexia have great difficulty learning to read and/or write. The problems are so bad that extra guidance does not help enough. In cases of severe dyslexia, your child may receive special care.

What can you do when your child is not attending school? There are several people who can help you. Together, we will find a suitable solution.

I want to know more about:

All students should be given a place in a school that suits their qualities and abilities.

How do you find a nice school? And what can you expect from school? Read more here.

Is your child moving to Amsterdam? Or do you want to change schools? If so, you can register your child at another school.

Does your child need more support than school can provide? Then special (primary) education may be the best place.

The transition to secondary school is fun, but sometimes exciting. Read more here.

Do you have questions about appropriate education, want toindependent advice,or simply consult? The Parent Support Centre is at your service.

Questions and answers

Then it is a good idea to raise the alarm at school. With the teacher or internal supervisor.

As parents, you can share what you see and worry about. And you can look for causes and what is needed.

Anything you feel is important to discuss about your child, you can put in this conversation.

Talk to the teacher, your child's counsellor or the school's internal supervisor. Are you unable to come to an agreement? Then contact the school board. Would you like to know which school board this is? Then look here. If you click on a school, you will see the school board's website.

Are you also stuck with the school board? Then you can always contact the Parent support centre.

Schools must ensure that every child gets a suitable place. Even if the child needs extra guidance. This is called duty of care. Pupil receives support at school, or school seeks appropriate alternative place.
