Parents sometimes have questions about their child's education. For them, there is the Parent Support Centre for Appropriate Education Amsterdam-Diemen.
Parents can call the Parent Support Centre with questions about appropriate education, such as:
- the support available for their child at school
- how they and their child can choose a good school, even if their child needs extra help
- which special (primary) schools there are
- awkward situations at school
Why a parent support centre?
The evaluation of appropriate education showed that many parents do not know where to go for independent advice with their questions. Therefore, all partnerships for appropriate education are instructed to set up a parent support centre.
OCO: partner of partnerships
In Amsterdam, the partnerships for primary and secondary education joined forces and asked OCO to develop and implement the Parent Support Centre. OCO is an independent organisation with extensive knowledge and experience of how appropriate education is organised in Amsterdam and Diemen. Parents, pupils and mbo students can also contact OCO for information on, for example, compulsory education and transferring to another school. Via the helpdesk, and during OCO's consultation hours in the city.
