New working method Gatekeeper Dyslexia

From 9 November, as gatekeeper for dyslexia, we are working according to a new method. We have agreed this with all school boards. What will change? What remains the same? And what does this mean for the schools?

This is what we are doing now and will continue to do

If we receive a file
  • The gatekeeper screens the notified file and assesses whether the application is complete.
  • Complete? The gatekeeper immediately provides files that are complete with a letter of agreement (if the student meets the criteria) - or non-agreement.
  • Incomplete? If the file is incomplete, the gatekeeper draws up a letter specifically describing what is missing. The gatekeeper then closes this file with a (provisional) non-approval for compensated diagnostics of Severe Single Dyslexia (EED).

General
  • Schools can put their question about dyslexia to the contact person for the region where the school is located.
  • We provide education, including at IB networks and to school boards' dyslexia specialists.
  • We keep the checklist and the example action plan up-to-date so that it meets the NKD criteria. > We ensure that it is possible to submit safely via Kindkans with the link to ParnasSys.

This changes

Is a file incomplete? Then the gatekeeper closes the file with a (provisional) non-approval for reimbursed diagnostics of EED.

We expect this

  • Schools follow the NKD criteria and provide complete files.
  • School boards regularly check applications for dyslexia (via the personal and secure page in the SWV registration system) and support schools that have difficulty completing the application.
  • If desired, school boards appoint a dyslexia specialist to support schools for this purpose, such as an expert internal supervisor, language specialist, remedial educationalist or psychologist.
